Ode to Muladhara

The chakras are a key element in my teachings and practice. I often teach a Chakra Balancing Meditation using visualization and sound, an essential practice for feeling grounded, connected, and more easily able to go with the flow.

We all have our "wounded chakras", areas in our body we often have disease, illness or a chronic pain. It's incredibly useful to know which chakras get out of balance for you so you know what practices work and help you. For me it's my root chakra, or muladhara in Sanskrit, so I have to work extra hard to stay grounded. Here is my "Ode to Muladhara":
Picture
Oh Root Chakra.
You keep me grounded.
You help me feel safe and secure.
When I am connected to you I feel my feet firmly on the Earth.
I am held.
No one is out to get me, or take advantage of me.
I have everything I need.

But then, somehow I lose myself again.
In an instant I'm floating...so high I fear I can't come down,
or worse, I'll come crashing down and crumble.

So I spread my toes.
I feel my weight in my feet.
I breathe deep into my belly.
I see the red magma of the earth beneath me.
I focus on my intention,
not the fear and doubt.
I root into my intention and trust.
And breathe.
